Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is set to hold a crucial meeting on Sunday in Mumbai to approve the delayed Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) budget. The meeting, which will be attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, aims to finalize key decisions, including proposals to reduce fees for regularizing houses under the Gunthewari Act.

The approval of the PMRDA budget has been delayed for five months, initially scheduled for July 24. This delay was attributed to the Chief Minister’s busy schedule, affecting the timely finalization of the budget and revised Gunthewari rates.

The proposed new Gunthewari rates are expected to bring relief to residents in the PMRDA area. However, these rates are still pending approval from the authority’s committee.

Several town planning schemes are awaiting approval, including Maan-Mahalunge, Manjari-Kolavadi, Autade-Handewadi, Wadachiwadi, and Holkarwadi Phases 4 and 5.

Last year’s PMRDA budget was around ₹1,926 crore, and the new budget is expected to continue addressing the region’s development needs and planning requirements.

The upcoming meeting signifies a significant step in advancing the region’s development plans and addressing the concerns of residents awaiting the new Gunthewari rates.
