Alright folks, buckle up because the dairy industry in Maharashtra is about to see some major changes! The Dudh Utpadak Sangharsh Samiti is not holding back as they demand a minimum price of Rs 40 per litre for milk. That’s right, they are not playing around when it comes to getting fair compensation for their hard work.

The All India Kisan Sabha is also jumping on board with various farmers’ organizations, activists, and protestors to form a united front. Dr. Ajit Navale, the General Secretary of All India Kisan Sabha, is not mincing words when he talks about the dissatisfaction among farmers regarding milk prices. Selling milk at a loss of Rs 10 to 15 per litre is just not sustainable, and they are fed up with it.

The demands of the Dudh Utpadak Sangharsh Samiti don’t stop there. They are pushing for the resumption of the milk subsidy, an increase to Rs 10 per litre to cover production costs, and compensation for farmers who suffered losses during the subsidy suspension. They want a Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) system and a revenue-sharing policy similar to what is in place for sugarcane.

But wait, there’s more! They are also calling for regulations on animal feed and medicine prices, laws to prevent exploitation by milk unions, and measures to stop milk adulteration. A ‘one state, one brand’ policy is on the table to prevent unfair branding practices, and taluka-wise independent inspectors will be appointed to ensure fair measurements.

And let’s not forget about the animal health insurance scheme with government subsidies that they are pushing for. This is not just about milk prices, it’s about the livelihoods of farmers who work tirelessly to produce the milk that we all enjoy.

The stakes are high, and a crucial meeting is set to take place at Vidhan Bhavan on Saturday under the leadership of Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil. The report from this meeting will be a game-changer for the dairy industry in Maharashtra.

So, stay tuned folks, because the dairy industry in Maharashtra is about to see some major shake-ups, and the farmers are not backing down until they get what they deserve!
