Hey there, Pune folks! Some important news coming your way regarding free water tankers in the city. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is cracking down on misuse of water tankers by some contractors. It seems like these contractors were diverting water meant for areas in need to unauthorized locations. Not cool, right?

Now, if you’re in need of a water tanker, you’ll have to go directly to PMC officials and request it. No more relying on shady contractors to do the job. The PMC usually provides around 1,400 free water tanker trips across the city, with 1,000 being regular and 400 for emergencies. But it turns out that some of these emergency trips were happening without PMC’s approval. Yikes!

Contractors used to get paid Rs 1,140 per trip, but now they have to follow strict municipal guidelines to avoid delivering water to the wrong places. It seems like some of these contractors were linked to political figures and were taking advantage of the situation. Not cool, guys.

So, the PMC has made it clear that unauthorized deliveries will not be reimbursed, and contractors are not allowed to make unsanctioned deliveries anymore. The aim is to make sure that free water reaches those who actually need it. Let’s hope this new regulation helps in ensuring that the water reaches the right places. Stay hydrated, Pune!
