1. Deputy Commissioner Madhav Jagtap of PMC has issued strict instructions for intensified property tax collection during a recent meeting of senior officials and tax inspectors.
  2. To meet the ₹2,800 crore target set for 2024-25, PMC plans to conduct daily auctions and seizures of properties with outstanding dues.
  3. However, a state government stay on tax collection from newly merged villages has made achieving the target more challenging.
  4. To speed up collections, PMC has deployed 75 additional employees from other departments into the tax division, canceling all staff leave until the financial year ends.
  5. The administration has assured that seizures and auctions of defaulters’ properties will continue over the next few weeks.
