Hey Pune residents, get ready for some major upgrades on several key road stretches in your city! The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced a new project that will focus on improving the following roads:

– Nagar Road (8.7 km)
– Solapur Road (6 km)
– Magarpatta Road (6.8 km)
– North Main Road (5.5 km)
– Sinhagad Road (7 km)
– Ganeshkhind Road (3.2 km)
– Sangamwadi Road (2 km)
– Baner Road (7.5 km)
– Karve Road (3.3 km)

Using advanced differential global positioning system (DGPS) technology, the project will thoroughly map out these roads, taking into account important features such as junctions, bus bays, and Metro stations. A comprehensive traffic survey will also be conducted to assess current traffic conditions, pedestrian and cyclist activity, and parking availability.

The collected data will help identify key traffic patterns and areas that need improvement. Each improvement plan will be designed to meet current and future travel demands, with potential proposals for land acquisition to maintain consistent road widths and service continuity.

But that’s not all – the project will also include innovative enhancements such as storm water management and groundwater recharge solutions. Infrastructure upgrades will prioritize the needs of pedestrians, cyclists, and persons with disabilities (PwD), with features like sidewalks, crosswalks, bike lanes, shared-use paths, and public plazas. The goal is to address parking shortages and reduce traffic congestion, making Pune’s roadways safer, more efficient, and visually appealing.

Dubbed ‘Mission 15,’ this initiative is set to transform Pune’s urban corridors, significantly improving the city’s overall mobility and quality of life. So get ready to experience a whole new and improved road network in Pune!
