The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is making strides in providing affordable housing to city residents through the second phase of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). With 2,777 people already registered for the scheme, PMC aims to construct 4,173 homes in Balewadi, Kondhwa, Dhanori, and Wadgaon Khurd areas.
Here are some key points of the PMAY second phase in Pune:
1. The income eligibility criterion has been increased from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 6 lakh annually, potentially allowing more people to qualify.
2. PMC plans to build 4,173 houses in four different locations across the city.
3. The first phase saw the construction of 2,658 apartments in Hadapsar, Kharadi, and Wadgaon Sheri.
4. The previous phase generated revenue of Rs 303 Crore for PMC, with houses priced between Rs 7 to 12 Lakh each.
5. The Maharashtra State Government provided Rs 62.23 Crore out of the allocated 66.45 crore rupees as a subsidy for the first phase.
PMC Commissioner Dr Rajendra Bhosale highlighted that the increased income limit will benefit more citizens. Under the scheme, beneficiaries receive subsidies of Rs 1.5 Lakh from the Central Government and Rs 2 Lakh from the Maharashtra Government. The apartments offered range from 30 to 45 square meters in size, and interested citizens can register on the official website to apply.
This initiative is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to provide housing for all, with efforts being made at both the central and state levels to achieve this goal nationwide.
