Hey Punekars! Looks like you’re in for a mini mid-week break as the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced a holiday for all its offices on the day of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Elections on 20th November. Well, except for those who are providing essential services, of course.
This decision comes hot on the heels of instructions from the Pune District Collector’s Office to ensure that employees have the chance to exercise their right to vote. And in a show of compliance, PMC Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale has wasted no time in issuing the necessary orders.
But don’t worry, essential service providers, you won’t be left out. You’ll still get a two-hour relaxation on polling day to sneak away and cast your vote. And to make sure everyone is doing their civic duty, all PMC employees are required to submit a report confirming their participation in voting to the Labour Welfare Department, which must be certified by their department heads.
So, mark your calendars, Punekars, and get ready to make your voice heard on election day. And don’t forget to submit those reports – no slacking off allowed!
