Hey Pune peeps, here’s some news for you! The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is taking action after the recent fire incident at the Sangeetsurya Keshavrao Bhosale Natyagruha in Kolhapur. They’ve started a fire safety audit of all drama theatres under their jurisdiction. The tender process is already done, and officials are promising to fix any issues within a month.

At a meeting held recently, PMC officials and theatre managers discussed the challenges faced by artists. They talked about problems with theatre management, cleanliness, washrooms, play date cancellations, and the lack of canteen facilities. The officials assured everyone that these problems will be sorted out soon.

Rajesh Kamthe, Head of PMC Theatres, said that after understanding the difficulties faced by artists, they will be inspecting every theatre and holding meetings with managers and employees to come up with solutions. Mohan Kulkarni, one of the theatre managers, mentioned that various issues were raised at the meeting and promised that they will be resolved within a month.

So, it looks like the PMC is finally taking steps to address the concerns raised by artists. Let’s hope for a safer and more artist-friendly theatre experience in Pune soon!
