The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is on a mission to provide affordable housing to economically weaker sections in the city. With plans to construct over 4,000 homes in the second phase of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), PMC aims to cater to the housing needs of low-income residents in areas like Balewadi, Mundhwa, Dhanori, and Wadgaon Khurd.
Spread across various locations including Balewadi, Dhanori, Kondhwa, Hadapsar, and Vadgaon Khurd, this housing project will consist of 4,176 units ranging from 30 to 45 square meters in size. With 852 applications already received, it’s clear that there is a strong demand for affordable housing in Pune.
PMC Chief Engineer Prashant Waghmare highlighted the different housing models that will be offered under PMAY, including individual houses, partnership-based affordable homes, rental affordable homes, and an interest subsidy scheme. To be eligible, applicants must have an annual family income below 6 lakhs and register on the Unified Web Portal.
The central government provides a subsidy of 1.5 lakh rupees, with an additional 2 lakh rupees offered by the state government to eligible beneficiaries. This initiative aligns with the central government’s vision of “Housing for All,” aiming to improve the living conditions of thousands of families in Pune.
Overall, this large-scale housing project showcases PMC’s dedication to addressing the housing needs of low-income residents and making a positive impact on the community.
