Hey Pune peeps, did you know that the Regional Passport Office in Pune issued over 4.35 lakh passports in 2024? That’s a huge number! But hold up, it wasn’t all smooth sailing for the officials. They had to deal with a bunch of no-show appointments, especially during the festive season and election time.
Dr. Arjun Deore, the Regional Passport Officer, spilled the beans on the issue. He mentioned that they tried to accommodate more applicants by opening up more appointment slots at the Passport Seva Kendras and Post Office PSKs, but sadly, many folks just didn’t show up for their appointments. Ouch.
To tackle this problem, the Pune RPO came up with a cool initiative at the PSK in Pune city. They’re now helping over 100 applicants daily in completing their partially submitted applications. This way, incomplete applications won’t hold up the passport issuance process. Nice move, Pune RPO!
Dr. Deore also shared some tips for all you passport applicants out there. He introduced the D2A2 framework, which stands for Documents, Details, Application, and Appointment. Basically, make sure you have all your essential documents in place, like a QR-coded birth certificate linked with Aadhaar, eAadhaar, and a Class X passing certificate for non-ECR status. And if you’re a minor, don’t forget Annexure D and your parents’ passports.
So, folks, let’s make the passport process smoother for everyone by following the D2A2 framework and being prepared and punctual. Cheers to hassle-free passport applications in Pune!
