Are you tired of slipping and sliding on the roads of Pune? Well, you’re not alone. The city has been facing a slippery situation due to water leakage from tankers, leading to dangerous accidents. But fear not, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is cracking down on this issue by requiring tanker drivers to cover their tankers and prevent any water leakage.

With the uneven water supply in the city, many citizens rely on tankers for drinking water. To cater to this demand, PMC has set up tanker filling centres at various locations. However, the water spills from these tankers onto the roads, mixing with oil leaks from vehicles and creating hazardous conditions. This has been a nightmare for bike riders, who are at a high risk of falling and getting injured.

The root of the problem lies in tanker drivers neglecting to secure the lids on their tankers or ignoring leaks from the taps. To tackle this, PMC has set strict regulations in place. According to Nandkishore Jagtap, head of PMC’s Water Supply Department, tankers must have proper lids and no leaks to receive water filling services. Even with a valid invoice, tankers that do not meet these requirements will be denied service.

To give drivers time to adapt to the new rules, PMC has given them a month to comply. However, come January 15, these regulations will be enforced without any leniency. So, if you’re a tanker driver in Pune, it’s time to tighten those lids and fix those leaks before you hit the road. Stay safe out there, Pune!
