The PMPML has recently suspended its ABHI Bus Service, which was aimed at providing connectivity between the Lohegaon Airport and various business and hotel hubs in Pune. Despite operating on six different routes and offering regular fares, the service failed to attract enough passengers and generate sufficient revenue.
The routes covered by the ABHI Bus Service included Hinjawadi to Lohegaon Airport, Bhekarai Nagar to Airport, Nigdi to Airport, Swargate to Airport, Nigdi to Airport, and Kothrud Stand to Airport. However, due to the lack of response from passengers, the service has been suspended on all six routes.
In November 2024, the service only managed to generate Rs 1,59,055 in revenue with a total of 14,050 passengers using the service. The service operated with only two e-buses, running at a frequency of every 40 minutes.
Chief Transport Manager Satish Gavhane stated, “The airport bus service was launched on six routes for passengers at regular fares. However, there was a lack of response from passengers and revenue was not generated as expected. Therefore, the service was suspended on all six routes.”
It seems like the ABHI Bus Service failed to meet the expectations of passengers and the PMPML, leading to its suspension indefinitely.
