Attention all residents of Hadapsar! The authorities are cracking down on illegal tobacco sales near schools and colleges in the area. In a joint operation with the Pune Municipal Corporation, police demolished eight stalls selling tobacco products in Hadapsar and Kalepadal. It is illegal to sell tobacco products within 100 meters of educational institutions, but these stalls were reportedly flouting the law.
Citizens raised complaints about these illegal sales during a public program in Magarpatta City, prompting Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar to take immediate action. Under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Rajkumar Shinde, police and PMC officials used JCB machines to remove five paan stalls near a school in Kalepadal. Senior Police Inspector Mansingh Patil led the operation in Kalepadal, while Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Mogle oversaw the demolition of three stalls near a school in Magarpatta.
Authorities are committed to continuing this crackdown to prevent students from easily accessing tobacco products. Stay tuned for more updates as further action will be taken across the city to ensure strict enforcement of the ban. Let’s work together to keep our educational institutions safe and tobacco-free!
