Hey there, Pune folks! Big news coming your way – the Pune Police have just stepped up their game with the acquisition of five super cool thermal imaging drone cameras. These bad boys are here to make sure no suspect can escape their clutches, especially in those hard-to-reach or poorly lit areas.
So, why the sudden upgrade, you ask? Well, after a terrible gang rape incident at Bopdev Ghat last year, Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar gave the green light for these drones to be brought in. The idea is to give our law enforcement officers an extra edge when it comes to catching the bad guys.
Right now, our brave officers are getting trained up on how to use these fancy new gadgets. Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Shailesh Balkawade is making sure everyone knows their stuff before they hit the streets. The goal is to have these drones ready for action in case of an emergency.
You see, criminals love to hide in the dark and run off into the woods where it’s hard to find them. But with these thermal imaging drones, the police can spot them based on their body heat, even in pitch-black darkness. The live video feed from these drones will go straight to the control room, so decisions can be made quickly.
The plan is to use these drones in high-crime areas, especially in the hills and forests where theft and robbery are common. They’ll give the police a leg up in places where traditional methods just don’t cut it.
But wait, there’s more! These drones can also carry public address systems, so the cops can give instructions from a distance during big events, protests, or security ops.
And guess what? They’ve already been put to good use. The police used drone surveillance to track down and catch Dattatray Gade, the suspect in the Swargate rape case. Looks like these drones are already making a big difference in how law enforcement operates in Pune.
