Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar is not holding back when it comes to cracking down on encroachers in the city. During a recent interaction with citizens, he called for a ‘surgical strike’ to clear out illegal establishments taking up public spaces in Wagholi.
Joining forces with Haveli MLA Dnyaneshwar Katke, CP Kumar took to the streets to assess the traffic situation in Wagholi and address the issues at hand. With officials from various departments in tow, they spoke with local residents to understand the challenges they face on a daily basis.
Expressing his frustration with the rampant encroachments in the area, CP Kumar didn’t mince words. He demanded swift action from the police, civic body, and other authorities to rid Wagholi of unauthorized structures. He even suggested cancelling licenses of offending establishments and urged them to remove encroachments on their own.
In addition to cracking down on encroachments, CP Kumar also highlighted the issue of bike riders using modified silencers to create unnecessary noise. He called for the impounding of such vehicles and urged authorities to take action against garages that alter silencers to produce loud sounds.
Another pressing matter that CP Kumar addressed was the non-functioning streetlights in Pune. He emphasized the importance of repairing these lights promptly to ensure the safety of residents navigating the city’s roads at night.
With CP Kumar leading the charge, it seems like Pune is in for some major changes as the authorities gear up for a ‘surgical strike’ against encroachers and lawbreakers in the city.
