The Maharashtra State Government’s Home Department has given the green light to the establishment of seven new police stations in the Pune Police Commissionerate, with a whopping budget of around ₹60 crore. This move comes as a response to the city’s rapid growth and the increasing need for maintaining law and order. Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar has confirmed that these new police stations will be up and running within the next week.

The expansion was deemed necessary due to the growing urban areas in Pune, especially in regions like Bharati Vidyapeeth, Sinhagad Road, Chaturshringi, Loni Kalbhor, Lonikand, Hadapsar, Wanawadi, and Kondhwa. To cater to the rising demand for effective policing, existing police stations have been split to pave the way for the new ones.

The seven new police stations will be strategically located in Ambegaon, Nanded City, Baner, Kharadi, Wagholi, Kale Padal, and Fursungi. These areas have been identified and have received the administrative approval necessary for establishing the new stations.

Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has highlighted the benefits of these new police stations, emphasizing that they will greatly enhance the city’s ability to maintain public order and ensure the safety of its residents. The primary goals are to improve response times, increase police visibility, and boost community engagement in law enforcement efforts.

To support the establishment of the new police stations, funds have been allocated as follows:

– Ambegaon: ₹7.9 crore
– Nanded City: ₹8.60 crore
– Baner: ₹8.60 crore
– Kharadi: ₹7.50 crore
– Wagholi: ₹8.75 crore
– Kale Padal: ₹10.24 crore
– Fursungi: ₹8.81 crore

Additionally, 816 new police personnel posts have been sanctioned to adequately staff these stations, ensuring their smooth and efficient operation. This move is a significant step towards bolstering the city’s law enforcement capabilities and ensuring the safety and security of its residents.
