Hey Pune peeps, listen up! Despite the ban on nylon manja by the Bombay High Court, the dangerous string is still being openly sold in the local markets of our beloved city. But fear not, because the police are on it!

In a recent crackdown, the Crime Branch and local police seized thousands of rupees worth of manja from various locations across Pune. From sellers in Warje Malwadi to Vadgaon Budruk, the cops are working hard to ensure the safety of our citizens and our feathered friends.

One particular incident saw two young men, Saurabh Santosh Pashte and Yash Nilesh Petkar, caught red-handed selling nylon manja at Gayatri General Stores in Warje Malwadi. The police seized a whopping 45 reels of manja from them, putting a dent in their illegal operation.

In another case, Yogesh Shatrughna Shah was detained while trying to sell manja near Nevse Hospital in Vadgaon Budruk. Thanks to the quick action of the police, 11 reels of dangerous nylon manja worth Rs 6,500 were taken off the streets.

But the action didn’t stop there. Deepa Shinde, a 37-year-old, was caught selling nylon manja and four reels worth Rs 3,200 were confiscated. Even a minor boy was found peddling the dangerous string near Taljai Plateau, with police seizing nylon manja worth Rs 4,500 from him.

The anti-robbery and vehicle theft squad also got in on the action, seizing 6 reels of Chinese nylon manja from Shashank Chandrappa Dhangar and Rohit Ram Shinde on Canal Road. Chaturshringi police also nabbed Rupesh Nitin Salunkhe near Aundh Masjid with 11 reels of manja worth Rs 13,200.

And let’s not forget about Pashan and Katraj. Baner police seized 3 reels of nylon manja from Vivek Suresh Solanki at Sai Chowk, while a minor boy was found selling manja at Bhagva Chowk in Katraj.

So, dear Puneites, be vigilant and report any illegal sales of nylon manja to the authorities. Let’s keep our city safe and free from this dangerous threat!
