Hey Pune folks, listen up! The Pune Police are cracking down on loudspeakers at religious sites to control noise pollution. With over 1,800 loudspeakers already identified in temples, churches, mosques, and more, the cops are on a mission to ensure compliance with noise level regulations.
According to the Maharashtra Government, noise levels should not exceed 55 decibels during the day and 45 decibels at night. So, if you’re planning on blasting your loudspeaker late at night, think again. Violators will face the music, quite literally, and will have to switch off their loudspeakers between 10 PM and 6 AM.
This move is part of a national initiative to enforce noise pollution rules, with the courts emphasizing that loudspeakers are not essential to any religion and must follow legal limits. Maharashtra’s Chief Minister has also issued a warning to those who don’t play by the rules, urging local police inspectors to take strict action against non-compliance.
So, let’s keep the peace and keep the noise down, Pune! Your neighbors will thank you for it.
