- Pune police recently made a breakthrough in a series of mobile phone theft cases in the city.
- The culprit, identified as Shirole, was found to have stolen phones from passengers at Swargate bus stops and around Pune station.
- Shirole confessed to stealing a Vivo phone from a woman at Swargate PMPML bus stop last month, as well as two other phones in the Pune station area.
- Police investigation led them to a local mobile phone dealer, Mohammed Shahid Ilyas Ansari, who was operating Haseena Enterprises Mobile Shop in Kondhwa, Pune.
- A total of 43 stolen mobile phones were seized, along with a laptop used to wipe data from the devices, valued at Rs 7.45 lakh.
- Shirole, a repeat offender with six prior theft cases, has been arrested and is now facing charges for multiple thefts.
- The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of Senior Police Inspector Yuvraj Nandre of Swargate Police Station, with further action being taken by Police Constable Ashruba Morale.
- The operation was conducted under the guidance of Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Ranjankumar Sharma, and other senior police officers.
