Pune has been rocked by a series of disturbing molestation incidents involving college girls and young women on public transport. In one incident, two college girls were molested by two unidentified men on a PMPML bus in Yerwada. The men reportedly followed the girls onto the bus and began harassing them, only stopping when a female conductor and an elderly passenger intervened. The suspects managed to escape at the Nagpur Chawl bus stop, but a complaint has been filed with the Yerawada Police Station and an investigation is underway.

In another incident on the Mumbai-Bangalore bypass, a 16-year-old girl was molested by a rickshaw driver. The girl’s mother reported the incident to the Bharti Vidyapeeth Police Station, leading to the arrest of the driver, Govind Hanumant Nenavat. The driver allegedly made inappropriate advances towards the girl and even threatened her, citing a similar incident in Kolkata. He has been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

A third incident took place in the Kharadi area, where a young woman was molested at a PMP bus stop. Two men reportedly followed and harassed her as she was heading home by bus. The suspects, Sandeep Parameshwara Varkhad and Vishnu Vitthal Shinde, have been arrested by Vishrantwadi Police. The incidents have sparked outrage in the community and highlight the urgent need for increased safety measures on public transport in Pune.
