Hey Pune, looks like the police were out in full force on New Year’s Eve to crack down on traffic violators! A whopping 2,633 drivers were nabbed for offenses like drunk driving, speeding, and other violations. That’s a lot of naughty drivers out there!

The operation was no joke, with 27 checkpoints set up all over the city. And guess what? The fines collected amounted to a cool ₹19.81 lakh. Ouch, that’s gotta hurt the wallet!

Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar made it clear that action was necessary to keep everyone safe on the roads. And boy, did they catch a lot of rule breakers! From drunk drivers to those parking in all the wrong places, no one was safe from the long arm of the law.

Helmetless riders, signal ignorers, and wrong-way drivers also got their fair share of penalties. It seems like no traffic rule was left unbroken on New Year’s Eve!

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Amol Zende gave a shoutout to the 800 personnel who made sure the rules were followed. With 3,000 cops on duty, the city was kept safe during the celebrations.

So next time you’re out on the roads in Pune, make sure to follow the rules. The police aren’t messing around when it comes to keeping everyone safe!
