We’ve all heard horror stories about people getting their cars towed in Pune, only to be treated unfairly by the towing company workers. But fear not, because CP Amitesh Kumar is here to save the day!

In a recent meeting with towing company representatives and police officers, Commissioner Kumar laid down some new rules to make sure drivers are treated fairly during towing operations. The biggest change? If you’re present when your car is being towed for a parking violation, you won’t have to pay any towing charges – even if you didn’t know about the parking rules or you’re just visiting from out of town.

And that’s not all – police personnel in towing vans are now required to use loudspeakers to announce violations before towing any vehicles. Plus, they’ll be equipped with e-challans and walkie-talkies to make sure everything runs smoothly.

But what about the fines? For two-wheelers, the penalty is Rs. 500 (including GST), with an additional Rs. 285 for towing – making a total of Rs. 785. And for four-wheelers, it’s the same Rs. 500 fine, but with a higher towing charge of Rs. 571, bringing the total to Rs. 1071.

So next time you park illegally in Pune, be prepared to pay up – but at least now you’ll know exactly what you’re getting into. Thanks, Commissioner Kumar!
