With the increase in alcohol-related incidents during the holiday season, the police are ramping up their efforts to crack down on drunk driving. Using breath analyzers with disposable pipes, the police will be conducting checks at 30 different locations in the city on the night of December 31st.
This initiative comes as part of a larger campaign launched by the Pune Police to ensure public safety and prevent any misconduct on the roads. In the past year alone, over 5,000 drunk drivers have been caught and penalized for their actions.
Despite the temporary pause in breath analyzer testing during the lockdown, the police have resumed their efforts and are determined to keep the streets safe this New Year’s Eve.
