Pune Police recently made headlines with their quick response to a reported kidnapping case involving Rishiraj Sawant, the son of former Maharashtra Minister and MLA Tanaji Sawant. The situation turned out to be a misunderstanding, as Rishiraj was actually on a trip with friends to Bangkok.

Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar shared some insights into the operation to stop the private jet bound for Bangkok. “We took action before any harm could come to Rishiraj,” Kumar stated. “By contacting air traffic control, we successfully brought the plane back to Pune.”

The initial kidnapping complaint was filed by Tanaji Sawant, but even after learning the truth, the complaint still stands. Had the plane left Indian airspace, the situation would have been much more complicated.

The incident began when Rishiraj left Pune Airport on a chartered flight and lost contact with his family, sparking fears of a kidnapping. Social media quickly spread the news, causing concern among the public.

In response, Pune Police set up checkpoints around the city and conducted searches at various locations, including the airport. The plane was eventually brought back to Pune thanks to the coordination with air traffic control.

The investigation is ongoing, with Commissioner Kumar mentioning the possibility of Rishiraj traveling to Bangkok for a business meeting. The case continues to develop as more information comes to light.
