Hey Puneites, get ready for a traffic congestion-free New Year! The Pune police are stepping up their game to tackle traffic issues in 2025. Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar is determined to make sure the city’s roads are smooth and safe for everyone.
To start with, all major chowks in Pune will have streamlined traffic signals. A proposal has been sent to the State Government for approval. Hi-tech radar-based technology will be used to monitor traffic flow and identify congestion points. With 1,500 CCTV cameras already in place, an additional 2,800 cameras will be installed to keep an eye on unruly drivers.
At a recent press conference, CP Amitesh Kumar explained, “We are working with technologists to implement radar-based technology to tackle traffic issues. This will help us understand traffic conditions in real-time and take necessary actions to decongest busy areas.”
The police will focus on managing traffic effectively and addressing congestion hotspots. By working closely with other agencies like PMC, PMRDA, and MahaMetro, they aim to make travel safer and smoother for everyone in Pune.
In addition to traffic management, the police are keeping a close watch on criminal activities in the city. Measures have been taken to prevent serious crimes, and efforts are being made to counsel minors involved in illegal activities.
So, Puneites, gear up for a hassle-free commute in the new year, as the Pune police are all set to make your journey a lot easier. Stay tuned for more updates on traffic reforms and safety measures in the city!
