The tragic Porsche accident that took the lives of two young IT professionals in Kalyani Nagar has stirred up national outrage and put the Pune police under intense scrutiny. The incident involved a minor driving the luxury car without a registration number plate, leading to questions about the handling of the case.

Adding to the controversy was the presence of NCP MLA Sunil Tingre at the Yerwada police station following the accident. The MLA has stated that he visited after learning about the major accident in his constituency but has not clarified whether he met with the families of the deceased.

Reports of VIP treatment for the 17-year-old driver while in police custody have raised eyebrows, with his family reportedly allowed to bring him pizza and burgers in a Mercedes. The minor was released on bail within 15 hours, under conditions that included writing an essay on road accidents, studying traffic rules, and consulting with medical professionals.

There are concerns within the police department about the handling of the case, with sources suggesting that action may be taken against the Yerwada police station staff and possibly higher-ranking officials. Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has pledged to suspend staff found complicit in providing preferential treatment.

Criticism has also been directed at supervisory officers, with one officer dismissively responding to questions about actions against the pubs that allegedly served liquor to the minor before the accident.

Congress MLA Ravindra Dhangekar has alleged that money exchanged hands to weaken the case and has called for the investigation to be handled by a different agency.

The accident, which occurred on May 19, has sparked public demand for justice, and further developments are expected in the coming days.
