Hey there, folks! If you’re a frequent train traveler, you might want to think twice before pulling that emergency chain next time. Indian Railways is cracking down on passengers who misuse the emergency chain for trivial reasons or as a joke.

In Pune alone, the Railway Division has nabbed 1,500 individuals in the past year for improper use of the emergency chain. These offenders have been slapped with fines totaling a whopping Rs 8 lakh. Yikes!

The emergency chain is meant for serious situations like accidents or fires, not for minor inconveniences. But some passengers seem to have missed the memo, causing unnecessary delays and disruptions. As a result, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) is taking action against those who pull the chain without a valid reason.

Over in the Central Railway Division, there have been a staggering 11,434 reported cases of improper chain pulling from April 2023 to June 2024. The authorities have cracked down on 9,657 individuals, hitting them with fines amounting to Rs 63,21,000.

So, the next time you feel like playing a prank or pulling the chain for a non-emergency, think again. Let’s all do our part to ensure that the emergency chain is only used when it’s truly needed, keeping our railway network safe and on time.
