Hey there! If you’re planning to visit the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, you might want to consider hopping on a train from Pune. The Pune division of the Indian Railways has seen a massive increase in revenue thanks to over 80,000 devotees making their way to the holy event.

In January alone, a whopping 80,177 pilgrims traveled to Prayagraj, bringing in a revenue of Rs 8.42 crore. That’s a lot of people looking to immerse themselves in the spiritual experience of the Kumbh Mela.

With such high demand for train tickets, it’s no surprise that there’s a waitlist of over 200 passengers on many routes. But fear not, the Pune Railway Division has got your back. They’ve arranged for one daily train, five weekly trains, and even a special train to ensure that devotees can reach the Kumbh Mela without any hassle.

Divisional Railway Manager Rajesh Kumar Verma emphasized the importance of providing efficient services during this peak time. He said, “We understand the significance of the event, and our focus is on making sure devotees can travel comfortably.”

The Maha Kumbh, which kicked off on January 13, will continue until February 26, 2025. And with Maghi Purnima coming up on February 12, we can expect even more devotees flocking to Prayagraj for the holy bath. Verma assured us that they’re fully prepared for the anticipated surge in numbers.

To ensure the safety and convenience of passengers, additional measures have been put in place at key stations. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Dr. Milind Hirve mentioned that they’ve beefed up security with extra CCTV cameras, RPF, and TTE staff at critical stations like Phaphamau, Naini, and Prayagraj.

Since the special trains started running, they’ve already completed five trips, with one more scheduled for February 21. Dr. Hirve stated, “Each train is carrying around 3,780 passengers per trip, showing that the demand is still high. We’re doing our best to manage it effectively.”

As the Maha Kumbh reaches its peak, the railways are working tirelessly to handle the growing number of pilgrims. So if you’re planning to make the journey to Prayagraj, rest assured that the railways are doing everything they can to make your trip as comfortable and safe as possible.
