1. Late Arrivals and Waiting Passengers: Priyanka Sharma, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner of the Pune division, has identified that a majority of train delays are caused by passengers arriving late or waiting for co-passengers. This issue falls under the category of unpunctuality-related concerns.
  2. Stone-Pelting on Train Windows: Another major concern for the Pune division is stone-pelting on train windows, categorized as ‘punctuality tasks’. Sharma highlighted that pulling the alarm chain without a valid reason is a punishable offense under Section 141 of the Railways Act, 1989.
  3. Incorporation of Ahmednagar and Daund: In April this year, Ahmednagar and Daund were included in the Pune division, having previously been part of the Solapur division. Chinchwad and Loni stations recorded around 170 and 160 cases respectively last year.
  4. Prevention of Train Delays: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) is focused on preventing train delays. Sharma emphasized that most cases reported through the Rail Madad app are related to luggage left behind. Passengers are urged to avoid unnecessary alarm chain pulling, as it leads to delays and disrupts train operations.
  5. Increased Surveillance and Awareness: To address these issues, the RPF has ramped up surveillance and awareness campaigns. The goal is to reduce incidents of unpunctuality and ensure smooth train operations for all passengers.
