Hey Pune peeps, here’s some important news for you! If you need to get a copy of a birth or death certificate in Pune, you now have to head to the specific ward office where the event was registered with the PMC. Yup, the central government has made some changes and now you can’t just stroll into any PMC office to get these certificates.

Since 2019, all births and deaths in Pune have been registered using the Central Government’s Civil Registration Software. But as of June 24th, you can only get your hands on these certificates from the exact ward office where the event was recorded. This means that if you gave birth in one place but registered it in another, you’re in for a bit of a trek to get that certificate.

The new process involves filling out colorful forms at the birth-death office, attaching some ID, getting a printout of the certificate, and then heading to the civic facility center for payment and stamping by the PMC. Sounds like a lot of running around, right?

And to add to the fun, frequent server slowdowns are making the whole process two to three times longer than usual. So if you’re planning on getting a birth or death certificate in Pune, be prepared for some extra waiting time.

Dr. Kalpana Baliwant, from the Health Department at PMC, explained that this update is all thanks to the central government’s software change. They’re working on training employees and informing citizens about the new process. But for now, it looks like Pune folks will have to deal with the inconvenience of visiting specific ward offices for their certificates.

One resident shared their experience, having to make multiple trips to different ward offices because of this new rule. So if you’re in Pune and need a birth or death certificate, make sure you know where to go to avoid any unnecessary hassle.
