Hey Pune folks, big news coming your way! The State Consumer Court has decided to take on a case filed by some residents against the PMC for not providing enough water despite collecting water tax. The residents are demanding a simple solution: “No water, no water tax.” They also want a refund of the tax they paid, plus 2% interest per month.
Advocate Krunnal Gharre, who is representing the residents, is pleased that the court is looking into the matter. He said, “It’s great that the court is taking this seriously. People are being charged for water they are not even getting. The PMC even charges a 2% interest for late payments. All we want is our money back and to stop paying until we get the 150 liters of water per day per person that we are supposed to.”
The court has agreed to hear the case and has allowed it to move forward as a representative suit. This means that the outcome will not just affect the people who filed the complaint, but all residents who are facing similar issues. This is a big step towards holding the PMC accountable for not doing their job properly.
We’ll keep you updated as the case progresses. Stay tuned for more updates!
