The Regional Passport Office (RPO) Pune has had a busy year in 2024, issuing over 4.35 lakh passports despite facing challenges such as no-show appointments and increased demand during festive and election seasons. Dr. Arjun Deore, the Regional Passport Officer, addressed these operational challenges by introducing a special provision at PSK Pune to help applicants finalize their partially submitted applications.
To further streamline the passport issuance process, the RPO Pune implemented the D2A2 framework, emphasizing the importance of having essential documents, verifying personal details, accurately filling out the application, and attending appointments at designated PSKs. The office also identified common issues such as name mismatches and the submission of unacceptable identification, urging applicants to double-check their documents before submission.
Efforts to meet the growing demand for passport services include offering extended appointment slots and accommodating over 100 applicants daily at PSK Pune. Dr. Deore emphasized the importance of adhering to guidelines to avoid delays in the passport issuance process.
In conclusion, the RPO Pune’s proactive approach to handling the increasing demand for passports is evident through the introduction of the D2A2 framework and additional measures. Applicants are encouraged to cooperate by ensuring accuracy and compliance with guidelines to maintain efficiency and reduce processing delays.
