Hey Pune peeps, we’ve got some exciting news for you! The long-awaited admissions process for the 25% reserved seats under the RTE Act has finally kicked back into gear thanks to a recent order from the Bombay High Court. If you’ve been anxiously waiting to hear about your child’s admission, the selection list and waiting list have now been announced.

Starting this Monday, keep an eye out for short messages regarding admission that will be sent to parents. If you receive one of these messages, you can head over to the verification committee from 23rd July to 31st July to confirm your child’s admission by verifying all the necessary documents.

For those who may not be familiar, underprivileged and socially and economically weaker section students are admitted to private schools on these reserved seats under the RTE Act. However, this year, changes in the rules for admissions caused quite a bit of confusion, leading to a petition in the Bombay High Court and putting a halt to the admission process. But fear not, the High Court has ruled that these changes are unconstitutional, paving the way for admissions to proceed as planned.

According to the Director of Education (Primary Education), a whopping 2,42,516 applications were filed for just 1,05,223 vacancies. Admission has already been declared for 93,009 students, with another 71,276 students on the waiting list eagerly awaiting their chance.

So, if you’ve been waiting with bated breath for news on your child’s admission, now’s the time to take action. Keep an eye on your messages, visit the verification committee, and get ready to secure that spot in a private school through the RTE Act. Happy admissions season, Pune!
