Hey there, Pune folks! Looks like the Regional Transport Office (RTO) is cracking down on school transport vehicles in the city. In a bid to ensure the safety of school children, the RTO has penalized a whopping 200 vehicles for not following the rules set by the state transport department.

Special squads have been out and about inspecting over 500 school transport vehicles in the past six months. And boy, did they find some violations! Out of the vehicles checked, 200 were found to be breaking the rules. Yikes!

Between January and June this year, the RTO checked 224 school vans and 318 school buses. And guess what? A hundred of each were found to be non-compliant. Talk about a wake-up call!

Regional Transport Officer Archana Gaikwad has stressed the importance of this drive, especially with the new school term kicking off in June. She’s urging parents to pay attention to the vehicles that ferry their kids to and from school. Safety first, folks!

RTO inspectors are leaving no stone unturned when it comes to checking these school transport vehicles. From window bars to first-aid boxes, they’re making sure everything is up to scratch. They’re also double-checking documents, fitness certificates, and agreements between schools and transport operators.

So, if you’re a parent in Pune, keep an eye out for those yellow school vans and buses. And if you’re driving one, make sure you’re following all the rules. Let’s keep our kids safe on the road!
