The Pune RTO is cracking down on vehicle dealers who have been selling vehicles without registration. In a recent move, the RTO issued a show-cause notice to eleven dealers, five of whom are from Pune and the rest from other cities. The dealers have been given seven days to respond to the notice before the RTO takes further action.

The action comes after the Pune RTO launched a campaign following the Kalyani Nagar Porsche accident case, where eleven unregistered bikes were identified on the road. The RTO is set to cancel the trade certificate of the dealers under the Motor Vehicle Act, but the timeline for this action is still uncertain.

Some of the dealers who have received notices include TVS Shelar in Kharadi, Kunal Enterprises in Kondhwa, Satav Automobiles in Hadapsar, Kothari Wheels in Kondhwa, and PR Automotive in Manjri. The Motor Vehicle Act allows the RTO to suspend the trade certificate for seven, 15, or 21 days, during which time the dealers are prohibited from selling any vehicles. Their login IDs at the RTO office will also be blocked, preventing them from conducting any sales transactions.

This marks the first time such stringent action has been taken by the Pune RTO, signaling a crackdown on dealers who are flouting registration laws. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
