Breaking news from Pargaon/Pune! A notorious temple thief has finally been caught by Pune Rural Police after a series of thefts at 11 different temples. The thief, identified as Vinayak Damu Jite from Shirur, had been under police surveillance for some time before being apprehended.

Items worth a staggering Rs 4 lakh were seized from Jite, who had targeted temples in Ambegaon, Shirur, Shikrapur, and Khed areas. The arrest has closed 11 cases that were registered across various police stations in Pune Rural Police and Ahmednagar District Police jurisdictions.

The investigation began after a spate of temple thefts in the Pune District, prompting the Pargaon Karkhana Police to review CCTV footage and conduct a thorough investigation. Through confidential sources and technical means, Jite was identified as the culprit and eventually caught in the Shikrapur area.

During interrogation, Jite initially gave vague answers but eventually confessed to the thefts at temples including Shree Bhairavnath Jogeshwari Temple, Devi Temple, Hanuman Temple, and Bolhai Mata Temple, among others. He also admitted to stealing from temples in the Ahmednagar District.

The successful operation was carried out under the guidance of Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh and Additional Superintendent of Police Ramesh Chopade, with assistance from various officers and constables. The team’s hard work and dedication led to the closure of multiple temple theft cases and the apprehension of a notorious criminal.
