Hey folks, have you heard about the latest drama unfolding in the Pune Municipal Corporation’s Solid Waste Management Department? Well, buckle up because it’s a juicy one!

It seems that senior officials have put a stop to the department’s shenanigans when it comes to favoring a particular contractor for the Bio Mining Project at Uruli Devachi. A tender worth a whopping Rs 100 crore was recently floated to process the remaining solid waste at the site, after the previous tender expired earlier this year.

The National Green Tribunal has been keeping a close eye on the situation, with an order to remove the remaining 10-lakh tonne waste as soon as possible. The department had only processed 2.5 lakh tonne before the previous contract expired, leaving a massive amount of waste untreated.

To add fuel to the fire, two tenders worth Rs 87 crore were floated for setting up solid waste processing units at Handewadi and Ramtekdi. But it seems the department tried to play favorites and award the tenders to a contractor with some help from a ruling party leader.

Opposition parties have raised concerns and some contractors have even taken the matter to court over the department’s questionable practices. But fear not, as newly-appointed senior officials are cracking down on the department’s antics. They are meticulously reviewing every document and applying new terms and conditions to ensure fair play.

Looks like the department’s days of whims and fancies are coming to an end. Let’s see how this drama unfolds in the coming days!
