Pune is expected to experience another spell of cold weather as northern winds make a comeback towards the end of the week. After a brief sunny period, the city is likely to see single-digit night temperatures as we head into the New Year.
According to experts, cold northerly winds from the Western Himalayas will reach Maharashtra starting December 30, leading to clear skies and cooler nights. Currently, Pune is experiencing minimum temperatures around 16°C with daytime temperatures reaching 26-27°C.
Before the cold sets in, some parts of Pune may see rain and thunder due to wind interactions. However, clear skies are expected by December 29, paving the way for the upcoming cold spell.
The weekly forecast for Pune (December 28 – January 1) includes partly cloudy skies with haze on December 28-29, cooler nights on December 30-31 with temperatures dropping to 12-13°C, and the coldest day of the week on January 1 with lows of 10-11°C.
Despite earlier predictions of a warmer winter, Pune has already seen colder spells with temperatures dropping to 6°C in November and December. Residents are advised to prepare for colder nights and enjoy the crisp chill in the air as we welcome the New Year!
