The city of Pune was left in shock after a horrifying case of sexual assault came to light at the Swargate ST depot. A young woman was reportedly raped in a stationary Shivshahi bus while on her way to her village early in the morning. The accused, identified as Dattatray Ramdas Gade, is currently on the run, with police deploying multiple teams to track him down.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar expressed deep distress over the incident and vowed to ensure that the perpetrator faces the harshest punishment possible, including the death penalty. He highlighted the need for increased security at public spaces like bus depots to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.

The victim, who was traveling from Pune to Phaltan, was allegedly lured into the bus by the accused before being assaulted. The incident has sparked outrage in the city, with opposition parties criticizing the state of law and order. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Vasant More visited the scene and raised concerns about the safety of passengers at Swargate depot.

The Pune Police have intensified their search operation to apprehend the accused and ensure justice for the victim. The incident has reignited discussions about women’s safety in public transport hubs, with calls for stricter security measures at bus depots in the city.
