The Shubh Circle rotary on VIP Airport Road in Viman Nagar has finally been removed by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). This move comes as a relief to commuters who have been facing major traffic congestion due to the roundabout. The rotary was originally constructed during the G20 summit with sponsorship from Shubh Developers, but it soon became clear that it was causing more harm than good.
Passengers traveling to Pune Airport had been experiencing delays and missed flights due to the bottleneck created by the rotary. The structure took up a whole lane of the road, leading to frequent traffic jams. The Viman Nagar Citizens Forum had been advocating for its removal for nearly a year, citing the negative impact it was having on traffic flow.
After much pressure from the public and support from the Traffic Police, the PMC finally took action and demolished the rotary. The removal of Shubh Circle is expected to improve traffic flow and make the journey to the airport much smoother for travelers. This decision has been welcomed by residents and frequent flyers alike, who are looking forward to a hassle-free commute in the future.
