Hey there, folks in Pune! Looks like the Solid Waste Management Department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is stirring up some controversy. Word on the street is that they’re using some ‘outside’ influence to award a garbage-processing contract to a civil contractor.

Now, in the midst of all this drama, it seems like the Water Supply Department disqualified a deserving bid for their contract. And guess what? The Solid Waste Management Department is now playing the same game by pushing their seniors to remove the condition of having experience in garbage processing for the tender.

Some are saying that the department is more focused on filling up the PMC’s coffers rather than keeping the city clean. Yikes!

The department recently put out a Rs 100-crore tender to process the remaining garbage at the Uruli Devachi depot. Apparently, around 21 lakh tonnes of solid waste have already been dealt with through biomining, but there’s still more to go. The National Green Tribunal even ordered them to process the remaining 10 lakh tonnes of garbage.

But hold up – there’s a twist. The department only started the tender process for 2.5 lakh tonnes before the previous contract expired in February. Looks like someone dropped the ball there.

And let’s not forget about the tenders for a processing unit at Ramtekdi and Handewadi. Rumor has it that the Ramtekdi tender conveniently went to a contractor with political ties. Sounds fishy, doesn’t it?

Now, with the pressure on after the Ramtekdi debacle, the department has tightened the terms and conditions for the Devachi Uruli garbage processing tender. Will they finally get it right this time?

Seems like there’s a lot of shady business going on behind the scenes. With the department allegedly trying to bypass the RDF experience requirement for their favored contractors, it’s no wonder that people are talking.

Let’s see how this all plays out. Will the civic chief relax the RDF condition for the biomining tender? Only time will tell. Stay tuned for more updates on this juicy saga unfolding in Pune!
