Hey there Pune folks, here’s some fresh news for you all! The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Standing Committee has approved a whopping Rs 9.5 crore for acquiring land from Wonder City to Rajas Society as part of the ongoing project to increase the length of the flyover at Katraj Chowk.
The Katraj-Kondhwa Road work, which began back in 2017, has faced delays due to the PMC’s struggles in acquiring the necessary land. This has led to cost escalations, with the initial estimate of Rs 750 crore for land acquisition now skyrocketing to Rs 1,100 crore. The State Government has chipped in with Rs 139.83 crore, but the PMC is still seeking an additional Rs 425 crore from the government to cover the remaining costs.
In a recent video conference, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari assured the PMC that the NHAI would cover the expenses of building the flyover if they could acquire the required land for road widening. As a result, the civic body has begun the process of acquiring land for the 50-m road, with valuation already completed for a total land area of 2,705 sq m owned by seven landowners.
Compensation will be provided to the landowners after deducting various charges, including stamp duty, registration fees, land measurement charges, and TDS. With these developments, it seems like the Katraj-Kondhwa flyover project is finally picking up pace. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting infrastructure development in Pune!
