The Road Safety Committee, under the Supreme Court’s supervision, is working towards minimizing fatalities in accidents.

With the rise in vehicle numbers, all government agencies, including the transport and police departments, need to collaborate effectively. Officers were urged to use modern technology for enforcing road safety rules and reducing accidents.

Justice Sapre also highlighted the importance of citizens following traffic rules, ensuring vehicles are in good condition, and wearing helmets while riding two-wheelers. Transport Commissioner Bhimanwar shared that fatalities on expressways have decreased due to road safety measures.

Divisional Commissioner Dr. Pulkundwar proposed making helmets mandatory for government and semi-government employees and conducting vehicle inspections in districts and urban areas. The meeting also praised the ‘Accident-Free Wari’ campaign by the Pune Regional Transport Office.
