Residents of Nyati Elysia Society in Kharadi, Pune were left shocked and alarmed when it was discovered that the water supplied to them by tanker businessman Shrinivas Ramlu Dasari was contaminated with sewage treatment plant (STP) water. This incident led to a health crisis within the society, with many residents falling ill with symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach aches.

The matter was brought to the attention of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) after residents filed complaints, prompting an investigation into the incident. It was found that instead of providing fresh potable water, Shriram Water Suppliers had been delivering water sourced from the nearby STP to the society for drinking purposes.

The contaminated water had been supplied to Nyati Elysia Society from October 7 to December 17, during which time residents unknowingly consumed the unsafe water. Some residents even took matters into their own hands, following the tanker trucks and recording video evidence of the suspicious activity.

Following the investigation, Shrinivas Dasari was arrested by the Chandannagar police for endangering public health. A case has been filed against him under the Bharatiya Nyay Samhita (BNS) for causing harm to citizens and cheating.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of ensuring the safety and quality of water supply to residential complexes. It is crucial for both residents and authorities to remain vigilant and take swift action in cases of water contamination to prevent such health crises in the future.
