If you’re a Pune resident or have ever visited the bustling city, you’re probably familiar with the traffic nightmare that is Sinhagad Road. And if you thought things couldn’t get any worse, think again.
The area between Hingane and Dhayari has been a hotspot for slow-moving traffic due to ongoing flyover construction. But add in the mix of vehicles seized in criminal cases parked outside the Haveli Police Station and Abhiruchi Police Chowki, and you’ve got yourself a recipe for chaos.
These seized vehicles take up a significant portion of the road, leaving little room for motorists to navigate through. And if that wasn’t bad enough, double and triple parking, illegal encroachments, and permanently parked vehicles between Vadgaon and Dhayari only make matters worse.
It seems like the police are quick to crack down on civilians who dare to park on footpaths or double park, but when it comes to their own vehicles, it’s a different story. Residents are understandably fed up with this double standard and are calling for immediate action.
During rush hour, the stretch between Pasalkar Chowk and Dhayari turns into a nightmare. With vehicles blocking half of the lanes outside the police station, bottlenecks form and pedestrians are forced onto narrow footpaths cluttered with abandoned bikes. And to top it all off, PMPML buses stopping at designated stands only add to the traffic mayhem.
It’s clear that something needs to be done to address the ongoing congestion on Sinhagad Road. Residents are demanding a designated area for storing seized vehicles to be arranged, in hopes of easing the gridlock that plagues this important thoroughfare. Let’s hope that a solution is found soon before the situation gets even more out of hand.
