Hey there, folks! If you’re planning on heading to the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium for the 4th T20 match between India and England, you might want to brace yourself for some heavy traffic on the Katraj-Dehu Road bypass section of the Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway.
It seems like every route leading to the stadium is jam-packed with vehicles, causing quite a bit of congestion. On the Pune side, traffic has been reported from the Orchid Hotel area near Baner, stretching all the way up to the stadium, covering a distance of about 15 km. And from the Mumbai side, the bumper-to-bumper traffic starts from Somatane Phata to Dehu Road Central, continuing along the bypass road until you reach the stadium.
It’s not just match spectators adding to the chaos, but also the usual Friday office rush. People leaving work from Balewadi, Hinjawadi, and Wakad are all contributing to the traffic mess. And let’s not forget about the street vendors selling counterfeit Indian cricket team jerseys who have decided to set up shop on the roads, making the situation even worse.
To top it all off, ongoing roadwork in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) area is not helping the situation at all. The good news is that once spectators finally make it to the stadium, the traffic is expected to ease up a bit. But hey, it might still take at least an hour for things to start flowing smoothly again.
So, if you’re planning on attending the match, make sure you leave with plenty of time to spare and maybe even consider carpooling to help lessen the traffic woes. Stay safe out there, Pune!
