If you’re a frequent traveler in and around Koregaon Park, get ready for some changes in your daily commute! The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to tear down the old Sadhu Vaswani Bridge and put up a new one in its place. But before you start celebrating the prospect of a shiny new bridge, be prepared for some traffic snarls along the way.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Rohidas Pawar spilled the beans on the new traffic arrangements set to kick in from Sunday, May 26, until further notice. Here’s a rundown of what to expect:

1. Road Closure: Brace yourself for a complete shutdown of the road between Circuit House Chowk and Blue Diamond Hotel Chowk. Yep, you read that right – no traffic in or out!

2. One-Way Madness: The stretch from Mahatma Gandhi Udayan Chowk to Blue Diamond Chowk to Moboj Chowk will become a one-way street. If you’re heading from Blue Diamond Hotel Chowk to Morodha Chowk, make a detour via Mangaldas Road, Mobaj Chowk, Mangaldas Chowk, I.B. Chowk, and finally Circuit House to Morodha Chowk.

3. More One-Way Action: A one-way road is coming your way from Moboj Chowk to Mahatma Gandhi Udyan Chowk (Bundgarden Road). If you’re bound for Koregaon Park, take the route via Sriman Chowk and M. Gandhi Udyan Chowk.

4. Road Closure Redux: Forget about cruising from Sriman Chowk to Koregaon Park Junction via Mehta Road – it’s a no-go zone. The new game plan involves heading to M. Gandhi Udyan Chowk and turning right towards Koregaon Park Junction.

5. Emergency One-Way: During emergencies, the path from I.B. Chowk to Circuit House Chowk to Morodha Chowk will operate as a one-way street.

6. Business as Usual: Luckily, traffic from Blue Diamond Chowk to South Main Road, Koregaon Park, will carry on without any disruptions.

These traffic tweaks are aimed at keeping the traffic chaos at bay during the bridge demolition and reconstruction period. So, make sure to plan your routes in advance and follow the revised traffic rules to sail through the construction mayhem smoothly.
