Hey Pune peeps, looks like the Pune Police Traffic Branch is really cracking down on traffic violations during Holi celebrations! In a recent special drive, they inspected a whopping 8,552 vehicles across the city and took action against 402 drivers for drunk driving. Talk about zero tolerance!
Setting up checkpoints at 90 locations, the police were on a mission to curb reckless driving and ensure everyone’s safety on the roads. With the guidance of Pune City Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar and other senior officials, the operation resulted in the seizure of 386 vehicles for various traffic violations like triple riding, wrong-side driving, and of course, drunk driving.
A total of 6,118 cases were registered, with fines amounting to ₹50,94,000. That’s a hefty sum! The police want to remind everyone about the importance of traffic discipline, especially during festive times like Holi.
