If you’re planning to hit the roads in Pune, you might want to think twice before having one too many drinks. The Pune traffic police are stepping up their game by setting up nightly roadblocks to catch drunken drivers in the act.
Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has revealed that these roadblocks will be set up at 27 different locations across the city. And to make sure things run smoothly, an ACP will be in charge of overseeing these operations.
Starting from 11 PM to 3 AM, these roadblocks will be in full swing to crack down on unruly drivers. With a total of 27 locations marked out, 125 police personnel, including the ACP, will be on duty to keep things in check.
To test for drunken drivers, breathalyzers will be used. And don’t worry about hygiene – each breathalyzer hose will be replaced after every use and destroyed to avoid any concerns about cleanliness or infection.
And if you think you can get away with driving the wrong way or breaking traffic rules, think again. Commissioner Kumar has made it clear that strict action will be taken, including impounding the vehicles of those who don’t follow the rules.
Under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (East Region) Manoj Patil and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Amol Zende, this campaign is set to keep Pune’s roads safe and drivers in check. So, remember to drive safe and sober, or you might just find yourself on the wrong side of the law.
