In a shocking incident that has left residents of Mundhwa appalled, a 38-year-old tuition teacher was arrested by Pune police for allegedly sexually harassing a 15-year-old girl. The incident took place on August 26, where the girl, a student preparing for her SSC exams, had been attending the teacher’s classes since June.
According to Senior Inspector Nilkant Jagtap of Mundhwa police station, the girl reported that after other students had left, the teacher asked her to stay behind for a written test. It was during this time that he allegedly made inappropriate comments and touched her inappropriately, leaving her feeling uncomfortable.
The teacher was presented before a special court and placed in police custody until August 29. The police have registered a case against him under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
